Course Description

Course Content

Writing Notes

The course consists of Instructor led training with theoretical coverage in the morning of each day and practical laboratories utilising current Industrial Ethernet equipment in the afternoon of each day.

The course aims to provide approximately 40% hands on practical to reinforce all aspects of the theoretical training.

All delegates receive a bound, printed copy of the course material and a memory stick containing the animated slides presented as part of the course.

Course Prerequisites

There are no mandatory prerequisites to take the GarrettCom Network Associate course.

A basic working knowledge of industrial communications and applications would be useful,
but is not essential.

Course Benefits

Industrial Ethernet is a more complex and mission critical Ethernet. In order to operate and deploy these networks, specialised knowledge is required and the GarrettCom Certified Network Associate course gives you just that.
You will study topics such as networks, networking devices, Ethernet, TCP/IP, resilience, management, IGMP, 802.1x, EAP, VLANs and QoS, and you will receive a recognised certification from a leading Industrial Ethernet company,  as proof of the knowledge acquired.

On completion of the GCNA, you will have demonstrated your commitment to preparing yourself for greater responsibility, increasing your potential earnings and creating new career opportunities.
Your employers will know that they have a proven professional in the Industrial Ethernet field and your company will have the confidence it needs for operation and deployment of their networks.

Course Structure

Day 1 (Industrial Ethernet – The Principles)

'Industrial Ethernet – The Principles' provides all the information engineers need to get started in Industrial Ethernet. The course looks at: Ethernet basics; the OSI 7-layer model; an in-depth discussion of layer 2 of the OSI model; the data link layer; application protocols; managing TCP/IP networks; standards; Power over Ethernet (PoE); and security.

Day 2 (Industrial Ethernet – Advanced)

The second course, 'Industrial Ethernet – Advanced', assumes a background knowledge of Ethernet to a level provided by the 'Principles' course, and goes on to explore issues including: switching (VLANS, STP, RSTP, S-Ring, QoS); multicasting (IGMP, and IGMP L2 compared with routers); TCP/IP in detail; security; managing TCP/IP networks; fault finding; and wireless systems.

Who should attend

Anyone who will be designing, installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, or even selling Ethernet networks, such as: Network Engineers, Design Engineers, Engineering Managers, Electrical Engineers, Network System Administrators, Consultants, Technicians, Instrumentation Engineers and Sales Engineers.

Duration & Cost

The program is run over two consecutive days.

Please contact us for our special introductory offer. Delegates completing both courses will receive the GarrettCom certified network associate (GCNA) certificate.
